Ultrafast lasers have proven to be powerful investigation tools in the field of condensed matter physics. The integration between ultrafast laser and other techniques opens up even greater possibilities for exploring fundamental physical questions. In this talk, I will present two examples: 1) combining optics with thermal transport to understand the scattering problems in strange metal systems; 2) integrating optics with electrical transport to probe the giant spin/orbital Hall effect in an ultra-pure metallic system.
